1) The main point that Silver is trying to make is that the contemporary vampire has changed from a frightful, elusive character to a sexual, comical, more slick like character. He uses many different examples from some of the movies and literature.

2) Another point Silver makes is that throughout many of modern movies(1970-present) we see a large increase in the type of bite the vampire executes. The previous type of bite dealt with sucking blood, and creating a horrifying perception. This has changed in modern day film as the bite dealt with sexual interaction, but also lethal interaction.

3) A good example to base the old style of vampirism is Nosferatu as Silver juxtaposes that to many modern films such as Love at first Bite or Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

4) Many of the movies now do not create a domestic lifestyle for the vampire. What I mean is that they do not show where the vampires are coming from, nor do they show the transient lifestyle. Modern day films are fixated on the actions they commit and the details of sexual and horror interaction between them and their victims.

5) One last distinction between modern day Vampires and older vampires is that vampires now are recognized as regular people, who are hidden behind a face. It is much harder to detect a vampire now than it used to be. The idea of Dracula has decreased significantly and the preventive actions to keep away vampires has decreased (i.e. garlic, sun, cross).
